How to install ICQ facelift in 5 easy steps:
(1) Open ICQ facelift in ResEdit (you can get it from http://www.resexcellence.com/ )
(2) Select all ( Ô-A ) the resources and then copy ( Ô-C )
(3) Open ICQ ( http://www.icq.com/mac/ ) in ResEdit. (Always work on a copy!)
(4) Paste ( Ô-V ) and select ‘REMOVE ALL DUPLICATES’
Q: I’m scared of ResEdit, why don’t you make a patch application like [INSERT NAME HERE]?
A: Don’t be afraid of ResEdit, it won’t bite you. “Hassling” with ResEdit is an expression I’ve heard a lot, and has been misinterpreted to “ResEdit is
just for computer geeks and hackers, and completely incomprehensible for normal users. It will probably mess up my system even if I just open it).
Not true! While it’s true that geeks can do powerful stuff with it, and careless use of it can mess up pretty bad, it’s just a matter of simple
copy and pasting. Even my little sister can do it. And I promise you that it won’t mess up your system (if you follow instructions Ò )
As for the patch, it requires an exact matching resource set to work, and that would exclude different versions of ICQ. (As far as my knowledge of
rescompare goes...) If anybody knows an utility that will simply install the resources into a file without doing any comparing, let me know.

Q: I don’t like your throbber (animation replacing sick-guy™), but I have made my own. Can you include it in the next version of MacICQ?
A: Of course you can. I’m planning to include alternative throbbers in the next version, and any sort of user contribution is welcome!
Throbber specifications: Horisontal “filmstrip” format with 33 frames @ 32x32 pixels. See resource for example.
